This academic year of 2014-15 was quite significant for our debating society because its saga was not only limited to the entire city of Delhi but also across the nation. Members of the debating society have indeed built a brand image of the college in the national debating circuit.
The society organised an intra-college debate on 30th September on a very concurrent topic, 'Is Social media breaking or making relations?'. This debate saw huge participations of the students and the winners were Amit Jha,VedantKhandelwal and SiyaRasik respectively while Manmohan Singh & Sarah Hussain were awarded as Best interjectors.Last year, the Debating Society added a new chapter to it, NUKE, a forum for Parliamentary Debate.
From this year we started the format of Parliamentary Debating which is regarded as one of the toughest and perhaps the best format of Debating.
On 6th April 2015, thedebating society "The Power of Words" organized a bilingual Inter-College debate competition in which debaters from various colleges of Delhi University have participated. The topic for this inter-college debate was also very concurrent and appreciable' "Is UN failing to maintain Global Peace?" The competition was judged by three eminent personalities: Retd. Major General Ranvir Yadav, Prof. C.P. Singh (Dean, Center of Mass Communication, IP University) and Dr. Sabina Pillai (Associate Professor, Dept.Of English, SBSEC).
The Debating Society, under the Convenership of Dr. C.S.Dubey, brought many laurels to the college. The Society organized two intra college competitions on the topics ‘China is a threat for India’. सदनकामतहैंकिचीनभारतकेलिएखतराहैं| and ‘Is media prioritizing monetary benefits over social issues? क्यामीडियाआर्थिकलाभकोसामाजिकमुद्दोसेज्यादाप्राथमिकतादेरहाहै?’
