The dramatics society of ShaheedBhagat Singh (evening) College - 'Sangharsh' is a platform for the students to indulge into theatrical activities - both stage and street play.

The year started with workshop for the first year students followed by auditions.
In the year 2014-15, they started their journey from IIT Kanpur in October 2014 with a bang by winning second prize. They performed two stage plays - Ilhaam (Hindi) and With Friends like These (English) and a street play-TuHaar Na Maan.

Stage Plays

ILHAAM: Hindi stage play directed by Sachin Kumar and Raghav Gupta.

  • Got Second prize in IIT Kanpur in October,2015.
  • Was amongst the top 9 teams from Delhi University shortlisted by Sahitya Kala Parishadand performed at Sri Ram Centre, Mandi House on 27th January 2015. It did the inauguration by performing on the first day of the four-day NatyaMahotsav held from 27th to 31st January 2015.
  • Was amongst the 5 teams shortlisted to perform at Maitry College on 30th January,2015.
  • Amongst the top 6 teams from Delhi University to perform in St. Stephens College on 15th February,2015. Jitender Singh Rajput won the Best Actor award.
  • Adjudged 2nd in Daulat Ram College on 24th February,2015. Jitender Singh Rajput won the Best Actor award.
  • Adjudged 1st in Miranda College on 25th February,2015. Jitender Singh Rajput won the Best Actor award.
  • Adjudged 1st in Lady Irwin College on 26th February,2015. Jitender Singh Rajput won the Best Actor award and also an acting scholarship worth Rs. 55,000/.
  • Adjudged 2nd in KeshavMahavidhyalaya College on 5th February,2015.
  • Got an opportunity to perform in Delhi Technical University where only 6 teams were selected on 11th March,2105.
  • Adjudged 2nd in NetajiSubash Institute of Technology on 14th March 2015. Jitendra Singh Rajput got special mention.
  • Got the opportunity to perform in Akshara theatre on 31st March 2015 as it was amongst the top 9 teams which were selected in Hindu College.
  • Amongst top 7 teams shortlisted in Jesus and Mary College.
  • It performed in FICCI Auditorium as the part of theatre festival of Hansraj College. Jitendra Singh Rajput won the best actor award and got a scholarship of ThespianTheatre Company. Abhinav Kumar got a special mention for his performance.
  • Best Script in Dyal Singh College on 9th April,2015.
  • Jitendra Singh Rajput, Sachin Kumar and Abhinav Kumar appeared in Delhi University Newspaper many times.
  • It is declared as the 'Best Production' of the year 2014-2015 by DU Beat (Delhi University Newspaper).

  • Adjudged 3rd in 'MOOD INDIGO' at IIT Mumbai and was the only team amongst 40 colleges of Delhi University to be selected in Prelims.
  • Adjudged 1st in Maitreyi College.
  • Adjudged 2nd in Shaheed Singh College of Business Studies.
  • Adjudged 1st in JAYPEE Institute of Technology.
  • ShivamSachdeva won the best actor award, it was an honorary mention in Deshbandhu College.
  • Adjudged 2nd in Dyal Singh College.
  • Gagan Arora won the Best Actor award in Dyal Singh College on 9th April,2015.

Street Plays

'TuHaarNaaMaan'

  • This production competed at National level competitions in IIT Kanpur and IIT Bombay.
  • Among the top 10 teams shortlisted in Kamla Nehru College on 30th January 2015.
  • Adjudged 2nd in PGDAV (EVE) College on 15th February 2015.
  • Adjudged 2nd in ShaheedBhagat Singh College Political Science Departmental Festival on 15th February 2015.
  • Adjudged 3rd in Institute of Home Economics on 22nd February 2015.
  • Among the 19 out of 70 teams selected to perform under 'Ateliers Campus Theatre (ACT)Festival' on 17th March 2015.
  • Had a public performance in 'Manthan' Theatre festival of College of Bu siness Studies in V3S Mall.
  • Among the top 10 teams which performed in Ramanujan College.
  • This production had performed in various universities like U.P. Tech, I.P. University, Ambedkar University, Gautam Buddha University and Bhartiya Vidhyapeeth University.

Sahitya Kala Parishad

Sahitya Kala Parishad is a natyamahotsav organised by Sahitya Kala Parishad, Ministry of Culture, Government of India. Its aim is to promote theatre at college level. This year our Hindi Stage Play team was amongst the top 9 teams from Delhi University shortlisted by them andon 27th January 2015 performed at Sri Ram Centre, Mandi House. Various big theatre artists and bollywood actors were present at this festival.

Goonj-2015

Is the Annual Theatre Festival under which Inter College Street Play Competition was hosted for the third consecutive year by our college on 10th March 2015. The street play competition was judged by the known personality V.K. Sharma. All teams participated with a lot of enthusiasm and projected various issues of our society. The prizes won by the teams were:

  • 1st Prize won by Jesus and Mary College for Rs. 8,000/=
  • 2nd Prize won by KeshavMahaVidhyalaya for Rs. 5,000/=
  • 2nd Prize won and shared by Institute of Home Economics and College of Vocational Studies for Rs. 3,000/=

Stage Play Competition

This year Inter college competition was initiated wherein Five teams were shortlisted out of Eighteen Teams from Delhi University in the Prelims round held at Muktdhara Auditorium on 1st March,2015. The finals were held on 11th March 2015 at Muktdhara Auditorium, judged by eminent personalities of theatre V.K. Sharma and Director Ravi Taneja following teams were declared the winners:

1st prize won by Gargi College with cash prize of Rs 6000
2nd ---- College of Business Studies---- cash prize of Rs 4000
1st Best Actor award was won by Deepak Verma from SGTB Khalsa with cash prize of Rs 1500.
2nd Best Actor award was won by Hitesh Khanna from College of Business Studies with cash prize of Rs 1500.
GOONJ 15 was a huge success and appreciated by all.

Atelier's Campus Theatre (Act ) Festival

Ateliers Campus Theatre (ACT) is the festival focusing on the theatre practices in the campus of Delhi University with Kuljeet Singh as the curator. It is instrumental in creating a major platform of young enthusiasts to interact with the professionals in the field of theatre. This year ACT Fest was performed from March 14th to march 21st 2015. The selected street theatre teams performed in different venues of different universities in Delhi and NCR.

Other Achievements

PritamJaiswal, student of our society worked in television show 'NanhaMasiha' on D.D National. ShraddhaIyer got offer from 'Balaji Telefilms' and Channel V.
The students of Dramatics society made a short film 'LAANGRI' and is there on YouTube.
Naman Gupta, a member of the society has worked with Old Delhi Films in a short film on Women Empowerment named as "ApniLadai"
Our students also performed street play at CP under 'RAAHGIRI'

Atelier's Campus Theatre (Act ) Festival

Ateliers Campus Theatre (ACT) is the festival focusing on theatre practices in the campus of Delhi University with KuljeetSinghji as the curator. It is instrumental in creating a major platform for young enthusiasts to interact with the professionals in the field of theatre specially street play. This year ACT Fest was performed from March 14th to March 21st 2015. The selected street theatre teams performed in different venues of different universities in Delhi and NCR. The Sangharsh team of SBSEC performed its street play atVenkateshwar global school on 19th March, 2015.

Muqaam 2015

The high point of the achievement of the theatre society is when the society showcases its Productions for teachers and family in the annual festival Muqaam which was staged on 22nd April 2015 at The Little Theatre Group Auditorium. The Sangharsh team presented two stage plays -'Ilhaam' and 'With friends like these' along with a street play 'Tuhaarnamaan' and an uncompetitive production "EkDaurTha".

The event was inaugurated by our Principal Dr. P. K. Khurana. The students of 3rd year Sangharsh team presented the principal with a momento. The event was attended by the staff, students and parents of the participants. It was thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated by all.

SANGHARSH the theatre society of SBSEC has been declared as the best college society in DU fests for the stage play category by the DU beat, an independent student newspaper (published on 13th April, 2015)

The Annual Theatre Production, English Play. With Friends Like These, is going to perform at National Centre of Performing Arts, Mumbai on 28th June, 2015.
