NUKE – The Hindi Debating Society

About the Society
NUKE – The Hindi Debating Society of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Evening College, University of Delhi. It was established in 2012 under the name Power of Words, with the aim of nurturing oratory excellence and critical thinking among students. In 2014, the society was renamed NUKE, symbolizing the power of impactful expression and intellectual dynamism. It is one of the fastest growing societies of the Delhi University Debating Circuit.

Since its inception, NUKE has been a vibrant platform for students passionate about debating, discussion, and the art of persuasion — fostering a culture of reasoned argument, teamwork, and leadership.
Events and Initiatives
NUKE organizes a series of prestigious debating events and interactive sessions throughout the academic year, including:
  • Anugrah – Intra Society Conventional Debate competition
  • Samarpan – Intra Society Parliamentary Debate
  • Unmukt – Inter College Conventional Debate cum Parliamentary Debate UG Level
  • Spandan – Inter College Fresher Parliamentary Debate
  • Dhanak – Shaheed Bhagat Singh Memorial Parliamentary Open Debate Competition

In addition to major events, NUKE conducts regular orientation sessions, mock debates, and discussion circles to enhance members’ debating and analytical skills.
Achievements (2024–25)
The session 2024–25 was exceptionally successful and proud for NUKE. The society achieved over 150+ accolades across various competitions in Delhi University and beyond.

NUKE has established itself as one of the most active and influential Hindi debating societies in the Delhi University debating circuit, known for its consistency, discipline, and excellence.

  • National Finalist – Aarohan v6.0 (Stock Market Simulation), NSUT. ?
  • 2nd Prize – Debate Competition, Motilal Nehru Evening College (MLNCE). ?
  • 2nd Prize – Debate Competition, Hansraj College. ?
  • Received Verbal Mentions at Model United Nations (MUNs) hosted by Sri Venkateswara College, University of Delhi. ????
  • Secured First Position in the Turncoat Competition at Ideologue: Inter-College Turncoat Debate Competition, Daulat Ram College, University of Delhi. ??
  • Recognition through verbal mention at Altior MUN – The Third Chapter, Committee Lok Sabha, held at Mata Sundari College. ?
  • Awarded a special mention at Bharat MUN, Committee UNCWS. ?
  • Broke as Speakers and emerged as Open Grand Finalists at Dialectica BPD ’25, demonstrating exceptional debating skill and teamwork. ??
